Watch Dogs Legion will be released on Maon Windows PC, PS4, and Xbox One. To get these characters on the team, players may have to complete an origin story mission, which makes things more difficult if a character with a good skill dies. “Each character has their own origin story – the story of how they are recruited into DedSec,” said Hocking. If one character with that skill dies and the player hasn’t recruited another character like that, they will have to keep playing through the mission without them or they’ll have to try and find another character who does have that skill. Watch Dogs Legion characters have special skills that can help with missions such as being able to hack drones. They will still be able to carry on with the mission but things may not be so easy. It seems that if a character does die, it won’t torpedo a player’s progress. “Every mission, every line of dialogue, and every cutscene has been written to account for every possible character,” said Hocking, and so if a character dies “the rest of your team will have to pick up where they left off and the plot and the story will carry on.” Speaking to GamingBolt, Watch Dogs Legion game director Clint Hocking explains how permadeath affects the game’s story. When it reaches zero, players can surrender and go to jail where they will be unavailable but can be broken out, or keep fighting for a chance to flee. Ubisoft has confirmed that Watch Dogs Legion will have permadeath and that characters will have a health bar that can be depleted to zero. Ubisoft announced Watch Dogs Legion at E3 2019, where it was one of the biggest reveals of the event. Players can recruit new playable characters to DedSec, but these characters can be killed in action. Watch Dogs Legion game director Clint Hocking explains how permadeath will work.
